Woodlands Child Care Centre has been part of the Albury community since 1986 and we pride ourselves on the caring and professional educators who are dedicated to providing individualised attention to each child. We have preschool programs, physical activity programs, a large play area, home-cooked meals. We also welcome children with special needs. Our nurturing home-like environment appeals to the youngsters in our childcare and we have a variety of ever-changing outdoor activities to keep the children engaged and entertained whilst also learning the skills that are important to their growth and development.

We treat each child like our own, paying careful attention to their tendencies, helping to guide each child towards activities and courses that they enjoy. As each child achieves individual milestones we make sure to praise and elevate them. Additionally, we believe that children can learn to overcome negative actions through positive reinforcement. Whenever there is a negative interaction, we work with the children to help them see how it hurt the other and how we could address it differently.

The Early Years Learning Framework

Here at Woodlands Child Care Centre, we are proud to follow the early years learning framework which is a national curriculum setting expectations for developmentally appropriate learning and teaching of children across Australia from birth to 5 years of age.


The EYLF emphasises play-based learning as well as learning through interacting with other children, adults, and the environment. By following this framework, it allows our educators and teachers to understand the importance of play-based learning, displaying why early childhood education for infants is so important to allow them to develop their cognitive abilities.


At Woodlands Child Care Centre the national framework we follow is based on five key principles: learning supports the whole child, learning is active and child-centred, children develop relationships with carers and other children, children’s experiences are reflective of their culture and children have opportunities to express themselves through creative play.


In addition to these foundational principles, we focus on the development of resilience and adaptability in children. You’ll have lots of things come up whilst you’re looking for the best place for your child to spend their early years' education. To help you out a little, here are some of the questions – and answers - to the things we get asked most often.

  • What should I pack for my child?

    Part of creating a happy environment is offering as much familiarity as possible. For babies, please pack things like nappy rash cream, dummies, three changes of clothes as well as a bag for any wet outfits. Remember their favourite comforter or blanket too. 


    Toddlers will need a change of undies, a bottle or sippy cup depending on what they use as well as two changes of clothes. Remember things like sun hats and warmer clothes too so they can make the most of our lovely outdoor space. A bag for wet clothes is always useful and if they have a favourite toy, they are welcome to bring it along. 


    If your child has specific things they need to have with them, such as a sleeping bag, medication, or dummies, then please pack these and let our lovely team know about them. 

  • How many educators are there in a class?

    At Woodlands Child Care Centre, we know that our team are central to your child’s experience. We make sure to meet the National Quality Framework guidelines for a child to educator ratio. This is 1:4 for children under 24 months, 1:5 for children between 24 and 36 months, and 1:10 for children over 36 months. 

  • What do I do if my child doesn’t like the food?

    Ah, the age-old worry. Meal times are a big deal for you and your child and we pride ourselves on offering great quality, beautifully cooked, nutritious food. We’ll work closely with you and your child to make sure we have a meal plan that meets their needs and that any allergies are fully addressed. If we really can’t find a meal solution that works, we’re happy for you to bring in food for them.

  • How do I prepare my child for childcare?

    Getting your child ready to go to childcare can be a worrying task, however, there are several things you can do to make the process a little easier. For example, talk to your child about the place they will be going and what they can expect. It may also be helpful to explain that there are other children there who also come from different homes, you could say something like ‘you’re going to a new place where you will meet new friends’.

  • How will my child benefit from childcare?

    Childcare is important for your child’s social and emotional development and helps them to learn how to handle themselves in different situations. It can also teach them to interact with other children from an early age which is crucial when they start school.
